Hida Takayama Museum of Art

Does anyone know if this museum is open.? Tripadvisor says permanently closed.

Thank you Uji. Was covid the reason? Do you know what happened to all the museum pieces?

We were looking forward to a visit. Disappointing.

The building in which the museum was housed was demolished a rebuilt as a hotel. The good news: the hotel will contain again an art museum which will display the same collection. The hotel is scheduled to open in March 2024:

Thanks again. Looks like the museum will be open to the public. Sadly, our trip is this year.

We will especially treasure our vivid memories of our visit on a very rainy day (way too wet for a folk village visit). A Charles Rennie MacIntosh complete dining room, direct from Glasgow, exquisite Lalique and other makers�f glass creations, floor to ceiling window vistas of the rainy and trees and pools outside. We felt sensitivities and appreciations bridging centuries and continents.
