International parcel: Changing address 2023/3/3 15:29
Hello,

I have quite a big problem. My EMS parcels arrived a couple of days after I left Japan and they couldn't be delivered to the address (serviced apt). The sender (on my behalf) sent the request to change the address to another Japanese one (my friend's house) a week before it was even processed at the Processing Centre but they seem to have ignored it.
I tried calling Japan Post from abroad (Eng line as I don't speak Jap) but to no avail.
The representative from serviced apt I used to live also called the post and asked if they can deliver again to the building but post office said no.
Now they are saying that they will return the parcel since they can't deliver to the address.
Is there anything I can do at this point?

Thank you so much!

No. They like most other Japanese companies strictly adhere to their policies.

The parcels will be returned to the sender.

You can organise with the sender to have the items resent to your current address.

the answer is simple.
any directions with no ID are not accepted.
if a third person pretend the sender or receiver, they can take your parcel.
it must be return to the sender, because the receiver is unknown.
it is your side problem that you can't show your ID when you direct it.
it is not their policy matter. it is world-wide common sense.
