Hi, I will be in Kanazawa in the week of 8 May. Anymore sakura flowers remaining by this time and at which part of Kanazawa? Thank you.

Around early May you can usually still see some very late-flowering cherry trees around Kenrokuen, but not too many. The most special among them is the Kikuzakura, a variety with about 200 petals, which I believe is "native" to Kenrokuen. Note, however, that by the time the trees bloom, the fresh leaves are already fully developed, and it can be difficult to discover the blossoms among the fresh leaves.
If you are hoping to experience the typical famous hanami activities, then I am afraid May is too late.

Thank you Uji and hario1210. Yes, i will be going to Kenrukuen. In fact, I am happy if I could just see ramnants of any kind of sakura flowers.
I will also be going to Kaga onsen area spending a day at Yamamaka onsen town. On the way perhaps I will drop by Hakusan City to try my luck. I have JR Pass anyway.
Thank you so much for the useful tips.
