Hello, wefre a family of 5 trying to catch the sumo tournament in Tokyo while there 27-28 May. We want to be close to the action. Can you have 2 adults, 3 kids in a 4-person box? Kids are 17, 10, 9. Can you buy just five box seats or are they only sold by box (4-seats)?

Dear ColeS, no, the 4-Box Seats are only for 4 Persons at one time. You can try to get individual Chair seats. The Tickets for the May tournament goes on sale at 8th april: https://sumo.pia.jp/en/sumo05.jsp

May 27th and 28th are the final two days of the tournament. Weekend days are the most popular and will be harder to get tickets. The arena (chair) seats offer good views, even from the second floor at the stadium in Tokyo. A comment from my guests attending for the first time last week (Osaka) was they thought being higher up actually afforded better views of the action than the lower box seats would have given. Another point, unless you are used to sitting on the floor, in a small box seat (about 1.5m x 1.5m for four people) you would probably find it quite uncomfortable.
