What to do in Aomori? 2023/3/27 07:45
I'm basing in Aomori next month to visit Hirosaki and Hakodate. However, on my arrival day and departure days, I may have some time in Aomori itself. Looking for recommendations from those who have visited. Otherwise, I may just walk around the downtown and water areas.

My favorites are the Sannai-Maruyama Ruins, the Aomori Museum of Art (next door), and Furukawa Market, famous for its Nokkedon. I haven't been to Warasse or A-FACTORY.

I haven't been there, but the Shiko Munakata Memorial Hall might be good (works are also exhibited at the Aomori Museum of Art).

Nebuta Wa Rasse Museum is a must. If you like fresh seafood, then make your own kaisen-don at Furukawa Fish Market.

Aomori is famous for its apples. About 60% of apples in Japan are grown in Aomori. Try a mall called A-Factory to eat/drink and buy apple-themed food/drink/souvenirs. If you like apple ciders (hard ciders), there is a brewery upstairs where you can sample some.
