Is Izu a good place for scuba diving?

I am staying in Nagoya for a friend's wedding and wish to do some scuba diving while I am in Japan.
I would like to do my Advanced Open Water Course over two days and stay in a Minshuku.
Is Izu nice for diving? Where in Izu would be recommended?
