Big luggage on Azusa trains 2024/11/26 23:52
Hello all,

We will be traveling from Tokyo (Shinjuku) to Matsumoto using an Azusa train.

When reserveing tickets on-line I can not see if there are specific seats to reserve if you have big luggage.
We will have one or two big suitcases.

I know that in most Shinkansen trains these are the seats in the back of the car.

Would that be the same in an Azusa type train?

Many thanks in advance for you answers!

I was on that train last week, and some (at least the ones Ifve seen) had some luggage storage space at one end of the carriage, far bigger than the one on Shinkansen, more like the one on Narita Express. I saw some people with large suitcases using the space. Those are not tied to any seat, and as far as I can look up, no reservation seems to be necessary.

Indeed, the luggage reservations are limited to the Tokaido, Sanyo, Kyushu and Nishikyushu Shinkansen. It does not exist on any other train lines.

If you have huge cases, ones that don't fit on the over-head racks, you keep them at your seat on the floor. If you must bring a lot of luggage, you don't need it all every day and you can use over-night luggage forwarding.

https://www.kzlifelog.com/entry/jre-e353-express-report

All Azusa limited express have luggage spaces in cars No. 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 (green car) 10 and 12. From Matsumoto to Shinjuku, the luggage space is in the rear side of the car. As mentioned you donft need to reserve or canft reserve the luggage space.
