Hi All,
I've got a coworker who is visiting Japan in the middle of Sakura season and I suggested staying at a temple stay at Koyasan.
Little did I know how much prices have increased as it seems to be around 100,000 yen a night for 2 people when they are visiting.
I was wondering if anyone knew of a temple lodging which is English friendly between Tokyo and Kyoto which might be a bit more normal pricing. It would be in early April if that helps.

That was one of the main reasons why I did not overnight there last summer, I just went from Osaka as a day trip, it was interesting, I bet overnight would be the cherry on the top but I was not willing to spend that amound for that.

At the moment, that's cheap for a futon, a shared toilet, bath and basic meal. (I had rude monks as well to complete the set for my last visit.) There are places other than Koyasan that do temple lodging - they could do it in Kyoto if they wanted to avoid the trek to/from Mt Koya.
