Aomori port 2025/3/12 02:14
I will be stopping in Aomori, Japan for one day. Is there any up to date info on the port, and/or location of docking spot for cruise ships in relation to city center.

The terminal is located attractively in the city center:

Most attractions in the city center can be reached in 10-20 minute walks.

Last October, I visited Aomori while on a cruise ship.
Below are the info I used to plan for my visit.

Aomori port info: https://www.mlit.go.jp/kankocho/cruise/detail/010/index.html

Aomori city guide: https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3750.html

"Aomori Taxi" offers several fixed-price sightseeing routes:

We booked a jumbo taxi for their 5-hour Hirosaki course. The jumbo taxi turned out to be a very comfortable Toyota Hiace van. But if your party is 4 persons or less, there are many sedan taxis waiting outside the cruise terminal when a cruise ship come calling.

To digress a bit, I can recommend Hirosaki, which is a cultural place in Aomori and has a famous castle Hirosaki-zyo, if you have enough time. I think it takes around 1 hour to access to the central area of Hirosaki city by taxy from Aomori port.

some guiadances of Hirosaki are here

I can recommend Tsugaru shamisen which is a traditional and cool instrument. Some izakaya, which is Japanese truditional pub, have live performances of Tsugaru shamisen, with foods offcourse.

please enjoy Japan, thanks
