I am considering a day tour to kurokawa onsen or stay 2D1N?how many days is sufficient ?

Personal preference. I personally dislike staying at the same onsen ryokan for more than a single night.
Kurokawa does not have to offer much and is only a good base for exploring the surrounding region if you have your own car.

I would stay 1 night. Which would probably be enough. Do some onsen hoping on arrival and departure day.

You can do either one. Get the tegata ticket and you can visit 3 different places in the day, including the expensive ones. There are close to 30 different places, and they range from excellent to just OK. They are also spread out over a wide area. A rental car is the best way to go there as well as get around. I also agree more than one night at the same place is rather pointless - very little is different or new the 2nd night, aside from perhaps the food. https://youtu.be/Xs_JXC6bhkM
