Accommodation at Chichibu

Hello

I am interested in visiting Chichibu in April after watching some videos of how lovely and interesting the place is.

As my next destination after Chichibu is Aomori, where is a good base to stay for 3 nights, e.g. Seibu-Chichibu, Chichibu or Nagatoro that will allow me quick and easy access to places of interest as well as easy access to train/bus to Aomori? I am considering buying the 5-Day JR East Tohoku Pass to get to Aormori.

Seibu Chichibu and Chichibu station is in the same place. In central Chichibu. I think it is the better choice than Nagatoro for 3 days.

Regarding Aomori, assuming you�fll take the Shinkansen, you will need to make your way to Omiya station. Either by going back to Ikebukuro or by connecting through Kumagaya.

If there are bus options I�fd suspect that they will require you to go to either Shinjuku or Tokyo. But that�fs a mighty long drive (to Aomori)

Anywhere close to a railway station will be best for convenience. Trains are generally quite frequent, so you can get around relatively quickly. The largest concentration of hotels is along the 1 kilometer stretch between Seibu Chichibu and Chichibu stations.

If your next stop is Aomori, then the best is to take Chichibu Raulway to Kumagaya and catch the shinkansen from there.

I personally would visit Chichibu in a side trip from Tokyo because it is close to Tokyo and does not have too many attractions. That is unless there is an accommodation that I would like to stay at, i.e. an accommodation that is worth traveling for. I am not sure whether such an accommodation exists in Chichibu. But if you like a slow pace and want to see a lot of Chichibu, it can make sense to stay overnight.

It's nothing amazing - but I stayed at the Basic Hotel which is located right next to Chichibu station. Prices were cheap and it's in a repurposed shopping centre. Staff were polite and it had everything you needed.
