Nagoya to Shizuoka Ecopa Arena 2025/3/23 02:57
Hello,

I am planning to go to Nagoya, Japan this May to watch a concert in Shizuoka Ecopa Arena. This is my first time going to Japan. So I am so clueless about a lot of things. I already tried do research for everything. I need your help and confirmation if my research is correct.

In this trip I will landing on Chubu Centrair International Airport. From my research in maps to get to hotel I can ride a train (Airport line - Meitetsu-Gifu) I was wondering if this line/train can accept payment using ICOCA? And when is the earliest and last schedule for this line?

For platform in station do they have signed that where is express line, where is other line?

And semi-express and limited express trains is one series of trains or itfs completely different time?

And about the gate to tap the IC card, each IC card have its own the scan reader machine or I can just scan everywhere in available scan reader machine in the gate?

Also, for going to Ecopa Arena. Do I still can use my ICOCA card? It saids that I can ride Meitetsu-Express and transit in Toyohashi to connect using Tokaido line.

Thank you so much for the help. Its mean a lot!

Yes, you can use your ICOCA, or any nationwide IC card from Nagoya Airport on Meitetsu, on local and semi express and express trains but not the gMuSkyh limited express. The express trains are usually a mix of reserved and unreserved cars, the unreserved cars are usually further from the gate at Centrair. There is probably a way to also buy a reserved seat ticket with an IC card but Ifm not sure what that is.

The signage is pretty good, there will be just one place on the gate to tap an IC card. First train is 0524, and last is 2331. It would be worthwhile getting the JapanTransit app where you can look at all these times and do journey planning.

You can travel to Toyohashi on Meitetsu and transfer, but because Meitetsu use the JR station in Toyohashi you will need to use the transfer IC card readers to ensure you are charged correctly. Depending on where your accommodation is it may be better to use the Tokaido main line exclusively, or at extra cost travel on the Shinkansen to Hamamatsu and change there.
