Take-out food around Hirayu Onsen 2025/4/19 00:47
We will be staying at a ryokan in Okuhida mid May. Will go to Kamikochi for the day. I am hoping to be able to do a simple picnic during our walk in Kamikochi instead of eat-in at one of its eateries. Hirayu Onsen doesnft seem to have the usual konbini where we can buy staples like sandwiches or onigiri. Any recommendation for any restaurants that do take-out or lunch boxes sold at supermarkets? We have a car but we know we wonft be able to drive to Kamikochi.

iirc, the souvenir shop next to the bus stop at Hirayu onsen has takeaway food and baked goods.

You could also buy a pack of toast bread and canned foods in the previous town you are visiting, and make your own sandwiches. While driving, you will probably encounter a few farmer's markets, where you can buy tomatoes/cucumber and affordable fruits.

Thanks. Looking for ready to eat foods. Will check out the bus terminal.

Here is a list I found by Googling "takeout Okuhida" in Japanese language. You can also try asking your ryokan to see if they make picnic lunches for their guests.
