Hi there,
I will be travelling to japan mid May. I have 2 days in Toyama after going through the Alpine route. I was thinking of driving to Fukui and Kanazawa for a day trip. Is this feasible?
Leaving Toyama at 7am, reaching Fukui at 9am
Fukui - Dinosaur Museum - Echizen Daibutsu since they are nearby
Kanazawa (2pm - evening) - Shopping - would appreciate any suggestions for things to do in Kanazawa.
For my other full day in Toyama, what should I do? - Kurobe Gorge - Shirakawago
Thanks for your help in advance!

It is doable, but you need long drive. I think most rental car shops open at 8:00 (there might be some early opening shops). You may also consider JR West Hokuriku Area Pass, 7000 yen for 4 consecutive days. https://www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/ticket/pass/hokuriku/With this pass you can go as far as Katsuyama where you take a direct bus to the museum. Also this pass covers Toyama to Kurobe-Unadukionsen, then you can take Toyama Chihou Tetsudo to Unadukionsen (not included in the pass), which is the starting point of Kurobe Gorge Railway. You may better visit Kanazawa on this day. JR circle bus in Kanazawa (Kanazawa station to Kenrokuen Garden) is also covered.
