Renting bicycles in Kyoto

I want to rent a bicycle for one day in Kyoto. I want to get going early enough in the morning that bicycle rental places won't be open yet.
The best option I have seen so far is through Clew bike share. They have a one-day pass available. It looks like you need to download their app, but you do not need a Japanese phone number to use their bicycles. They also let you reserve a bicycle at one of their ports 15 minutes before you mount up and reserve a parking space to return a bicycle to 30 minutes before you actually park. You don't have to use the same bicycle the whole day.
I like the idea of biking to distant areas and knowing if there will be open parking available before I get there. I like being able to get off at the beginning of walking areas and get a new bike on the other end of walking areas without having to backtrack. It looks like they have ports pretty close to all the areas that I would want to either park or mount a bicycle.
Does anyone have any experience with the Clew one day pass, or any other bicycle rental service in the Kyoto area? I'm hoping to start the day around 6 AM, before physical stores are likely to be open. Please note that I do not have a Japanese phone number, and I have heard a few horror stories of people finding out the hard way that rideshare apps will not work with a foreign phone number.

Oh and I was in Kyoto last September. I don't remember seeing these bikes. So unless the are fairly new to Kyoto. Don't reply in them to be readily available.
