Hirayu Onsen late October snow/ice

I am considering going to Kamikochi at the end of October. I plan to take the bus from Hirayu Onsen.
I would like to drive to Hirayu Onsen, stay there for 2 nights, doing a day trip to Kamikochi by bus.
How likely is snow or ice in late October (likely 29-31 Oct) at Hirayu Onsen?
We would either drive to Hirayu Onsen from Matsumoto or from Kiso Valley.

I understand that it is rather unusual for Hirayu Onsen to see snow that early.

While it is possible for some areas to have snow in November, October seems early, and an occassional snowfall is unlikely to make driving treacherous. I have experienced snow in the area during November that had settled on the ground, but not in October.
