Hi. Would like to visit Karuizawa this year for the autumn foliage over a weekend. I read that the season was rather delayed in 2024 and in 2023, it was rather normal in end October/early November ? I understand no one will be able to predict the optimal time this year, but if I were to pick a weekend for the best time viewing, is 1 Nov or 8 Nov better ? Thank you.

I think both can be fine. Autumn foliage isnft as short lived as sakura. And if down in town it isnft in full swing yet it will be a bit higher above the town. But if you have a chance to keep your itinerary flexible obviously better.

The elevation of Shiraito Falls is 1260 meters, and the elevation of Kaiko-en in Komoro is 660 meters, which is 300 meters higher/lower than the city of Karuizawa, respectively. Both are easy accessible by public transport (bus for Shiraito, train for Kaikoen).
