Visiting Naoshima, Teshima and Inujima

Just planning my trip next Spring and wondering how to see all the available art without rushing. I'll be coming from Tokyo and I'm not sure whether to stay in Okayama and do say 2 day trips or if it's best to stay on Naoshima (I'll have a suitcase) ? Is it easy to get to Teshima and Inujima?

To be honest - it's best to look at the Setouchi Triennale website as they normally update ferry times quite often.

In general - the location with the best ferry connection is Takamatsu on Shikoku. Note that Inujima is quite small but also has limited ferries. Teshima is larger but the main sites are quite spaced out.

Naoshima has the most sites and it's not really possible to see all locations in one day.

If seeing as many sites as possible is your thing - have you thought of staying a night on Naoshima as many of the ferries use this island as a stop between islands?

As i said in my post I'm not going til Spring so the special schedule for the Triennial isn't relevant to me. I'm travelling from Tokyo so Takamatsu seems more awkward to get to than Okayama, especially as I'm going on to Fukuoka after Naoshima

For inujima Okayama is a reasonable Nase. For Naoshima and Teshima I would feel that Okayama is too far from the port. Either stay on Naoshima (ideally), Uno (practical) or Takamatsu. Takamatsu on a map looks inconvenient but it�fs actually well connected to Honshu by train. Obviously not as well as Okayama to Fukuoka. But if you can add a bit of time you could also visit Ritsurin, which in my eyes is the best Japanese garden in Japan.

For the museums, probably you are already aware but several of them work with reservations and those reservations sell out. As there is still lot of time before you go , you can research for which you need reservation and how early you can get it.
