Fukui in one day 2025/10/8 06:47
My plan on the previous day of Fukui is to stay in either Kanazawa or Toyama, I can take first shinkansen and arrive FUkui station before 7:30 AM, put my baggage in a locker.

So basically I know the places are quite spread but I just want to get a glimpse since I need to pick a train around 8 PM to go to Osaka, since I don't want to wake up early next day.

So I am pretty interested mainly in the Dinosaur Museum and Eiheiji, do you think I will have enough time? If yes would you add something mainly in Fukui city?

Thanks

7:30 Am to 8 pm
Start the day with breakfast. It will give you energy, you need for the rest of the day

Buy Non JR Train happy line Fukui rail pass=1500 yen(85 km).it is a bargain price
I don't suggest you to travel 85 km by happy line Fukui railway. But this will give you idea, how fukui looks like.

You could fit the temple and the museum into a day. If you are renting a car, it will be far more convenient though. There actually is much more for you to see. The Echizen Daibutsu is a hidden gem in the region - and worth seeing before the tour bus guides find it and send in the crowds. The beautiful moss gardens at the Heisenji Hakusan Shrine are also tranquil and beautiful.

Since I don't have much time my idea is the following:

Leave Kanazawa at 6 AM, drop lugagge in lockers at Fukui station. Pick a train to Katsuyama and arrive around 8 AM.

From Katsuyama pick a taxi to Heisenji Hakusan Shrine visit and walk to Echizen Daibutsu (30 min), from Echizen Daibutsu either walk back to Katsuyama station (40 min) or taxi.

I would skip Dinosaur Museum as I am not a big fan of them and be at Katsuyama station around 11:30-12 and go to Eiheiji, visit it and pick a train back to Osaka around 5 PM so I can be in Osaka around 8-9 PM.

What do you think? I am a fast pace traveler so no worries, but do you think is doable?
