Nagoya to Korankei to avoid bus queues 2025/10/30 01:44
Apparently im not the only one who is interested in visiting Korankei in november :) I heard the bus queues to reach there are massive

I have seen different options to reach Korankei, both from Toyota-shi or Okazaki

I am planning to leave Nagoya around 8.30, and would like to know in which of the options i would have less trouble to take a bus to Korankei, as i fear if there is a big queue, i can be hours waiting for the bus

Thanks

By Subway, you can go Nagoya to josui (nagoya subway tsurumai line),buy subway 1 day pass.

Then from josui eki, you can board bus for korankei, bus fare 500 yen

How bad is the queue to board the bus? Are there chances I can’t board the bus and wait for the next one?

When I visited about 10 years ago on a weekday, it was no problem. I could even sit.
I suspect that the capacity is probably sufficient, but I doubt anybody in this forum can give you a definite guarantee.

I have no problems, I love making friends, but I love even more being able to jump into a bus, if you know what I mean

My worry is that if I arrive let’s say 9.15 to the bus stop, maybe there is a long queue and I need to wait for two more buses (it is, two hours) to get into a bus

I also cannot give you a definite answer. However in my experience when there are a lot of expected travelers the bus company will put additional busses. So even if the time table says that the bus comes every hour, it will most likely be more than just 1 bus.
But I can’t promise.
What i would not do is attempt to go by car. It sounds very likely that the road will be quite full. Depending on how they organize it maybe the bus will also be stuck in travel. So going on a weekday would be a good idea. If possible

I'm Japanese and have never been to Korankei, so I don't know much about it. However, I have no trouble reading Japanese blogs, so I'll just share some general knowledge I've gleaned from them.

First, regarding the increased bus service, I can't really comment on that. This is from my experience in Hokkaido, but in addition to the tour bus from Sapporo (reservations required) you can also get to Lake Shikotsu's Ice Waterfall Festival by local bus from New Chitose Airport. We were staying at a hotel at New Chitose Airport that day, so we planned to take this bus to the Ice Waterfall Festival. When we arrived at the bus stop about 15 minutes before departure, there was a long line, and about half the people were carrying suitcases. We could predict the hellish congestion that would follow, so we gave up and decided to just look around New Chitose Airport (which wasn't so bad, and we even got to enjoy the hot springs). I think there's probably a shortage of bus drivers right now, so it's not easy to increase the number of buses.

As for Korankei, I think the best time to visit is from before sunset to after sunset, when the lights are on (around 4:00 to 6:00). If you arrive at Korankei by bus in the morning (you'll probably arrive around noon), it might be a challenge to stay there for more than six hours. If you leave later, the bus may be delayed by up to two hours due to traffic jams. Of course, weekends are a must-visit.

The Ohwa Bus special bus from Yakusa Station is said to go through relatively less crowded road.

But his year's timetable for this bus has not been announced. There's nothing on the Ohwa Bus website either.

They do have a website.

Another option is to take a sightseeing bus. They offer a one-day tour to see Obara Shikizakura and Korankei for 12,000 yen. Frankly, I'd choose this one, as it's less stressful. However, it might already be full.

Re: Nagoya to Korankei to avoid bus queues 2025/10/31 12:17
it seems to be caused by traffic jams.
extra buses don't solve it.

their site indicates:
※土日祝日は渋滞により所要時間が2時間を越える場合がありますので、平日にお越しください!!
On the weekends, bus schedule would be delay over 2 hours or more due to traffic congestions.
we recommend you to come on the weekdays.

the site also indicates :
on the day when being expected to be very crowded beforehand, they pass Korankei bus stop (don't go to Korankei). they stop at the nearest place where you need to walk for 10 min to Korankei.
