Luxury restaurant in Sapporo/Hokaido

Hi everyone,

I’ll be visiting Sapporo in July 2026 as part of a two-week trip around Japan. I’m coming from the US and this will be my first time in Hokkaido.

I'm looking for luxury or fine dining restaurant recommendations in Sapporo. Ideally places that offer an exceptional culinary experience, whether it's high-end kaiseki, wagyu, seafood, or even modern Japanese fusion.

Bonus points if the restaurant offers a great view or unique setting (private rooms, chef’s counter, etc.).

Would love any suggestions from locals or fellow travelers who’ve been!

With Sapporo being one of Japan's largest cities, there will be several restaurants in all four of those genres (kaiseki, seafood, wagyu, fusion) that offer exceptional culinary experiences, so you might want to say which of the four you're most interested in to help get the ball rolling on this conversation.

We had a great kaiseki experience in a ryokan near Lake Shikotsu. You may want to check some ryokan for the same reason.
