Togakushi Closure for Winter 2026?

I've seen reports that the Cedar lined path to the upper shrine at Nagano Togakushi has been closed until Spring, Some say the path is open until the Zuishinmon Gate. Others say the entire path is closed. I don't see mention of any closure on the official site. Anyone know definitivey? Also, is the path normally still covered with snow in the second week of April? Thank you.

Whether there is still snow in mid April depends on the year.

I have been to Togakushi during winter previously and there was around a metre of snow. You can still see the large cedar trees before getting to the Zuishinmon Gate. In our case, we only ventured a short distance from the parking lot - it was more about playing in the snow.
Of course, there is the lower, middle and upper shrine. Just the upper shrine access is restricted.
