Togakushi Shrine driving guide in mid April

Hello everyone!

Would like to seek some advice on driving to Togakushi Shrines from Nagano Station area. Would our rental car be able to drive all the way up to the Upper Shrine in mid April? 14th to be exact. Read that we should check the road conditions in case of closure, but where can we check that?
Any advice on the driving route up or down is greatly appreciated.

It is a fair bit of walk from the road to the shrine. In my memory about 5 km of walk uphill including some uneven stairs at the end.

Every year is different - but I see the major problem being able to actually reach the shrine as the snow melts along stairs and a gravel path.
