Bandai Azuma Skyline opening date 2026?

Hi!

We'll be traveling the Tohoku region by car mid april (around april 15), but we can't find any official information about the Bandai Azuma Skyline and the snow corridor being open these dates. Is there any official information, or at least a prediction about when the road will open this year? How far in advance is there information about that?

I don't think that the specific date has been announced yet. All I find is 'late April or later'. I think there was not too much snow this year, so I think it would be around late April rather than May. But that is just my guess.

Thank you for your reply! What I don't understand is, based on everything I can read online, the Bandai-Azuma skyline usually opens up mid April with the snow corridor until golden week or so. And the historical opening dates I can find are usually around April 20.

Is it common that it opens as late as May you mean? Because then it seems impossible that it'll be open when we're there.

I think it is unusual but possible. The Japanese word used is 4月下旬以降, which means late April or later. And "late April" typically refers to April 21-30. It could also be earlier, depending on the situation, because the date is not determined yet. At least I can't find any source yet that the date has been determined.
