Matsumoto station Hokuriku Arch Pass Coverage

I've bought the Hokuriku Arch Pass and my accommodation is located in Ikebukuro. I couldn't find the information online so I was wondering if anyone knows whether the entire journey from Ikebukuro station to Matsumoto station is fully covered by the Hokuriku Arch Pass?

According to Google Maps, we have to take the Yamanote Line from Ikebukuro to Shinjuku station then transfer to a JR Limited Express Azusa Train (Chuo Line) to Matsumoto station. Is the last part covered by the Hokuriku Arch Pass? Thanks.

An alternative way to get from Tokyo to Matsumoto is to take the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Ueno to Nagano and then the Limited Express Shinano from Nagano to Matsumoto. You donft ghave toh take the Azusa, although itfs a reasonable way to go. I suppose the Azusa might take less time, but if you wanted to stop somewhere en route for sightseeing or something, there are probably more choices along the Hokuriku Shinkansen line, such as Karuizawa or Nagano itself.

Google Maps has gotten much better with transit information over the years, but you might want to look into one of the route planners like Jorudan or Navitime for a backup resource for train information.

I didnft know that they added some coverage area to that pass! Itfs unlikely that Ifll ever get one again (I bought one once in the past and it worked out well, but I usually go farther afield on my trips nowadays), but I might be more open to it now. There are actually loads of interesting places you can go with it, and I believe it is the only one other than the nationwide pass that covers an entire trip from Tokyo to Kyoto (and back). I can see a week with that pass being loads of fun, for considerably less cost than the nationwide pass.

You donft have to catch the Hokuriku shinkansen at Ueno, of course. You can get on it at Tokyo Station, where it starts. I was thinking of the Yamanote line, which is covered by your pass and which stops at Ueno sooner than Tokyo when you start at Ikebukuro. But if youfre wanting to board without seat reservations, Tokyo Station would be a safer bet. Sometimes the Hokuriku Shinkansen fills up.
