I'll visit Hokkaido for 8 days with my wife during early July for Lavender Season. Here my plan:
Sapporo - 3 days Otaru - 1 day Furano - 2 days Biei - 2 days
Some questions:
1. First 2 weeks of July, is it the best times to view Lavender? 2. How do I make a reservation for Air do flight ticket? I checked their website but all in Japanese. 3. Budget hotel offer rate in Single Room, can it's accommodate 2 persons? or I need to book Double Room type. 4. Any recommendation budget hotel which around 5000 - 7000 yen in Furano & Biei? 5. Is it recommended for my trip plan to use JR Hokkaido - Pair Kippu Pass?

1. First 2 weeks of July, is it the best times to view Lavender?I think it is a little bit early. 2. How do I make a reservation for Air do flight ticket? I checked their website but all in Japanese.Try to phone them in English (Tokyo: 03-3490-1122). Or inquire through a travel agent. You can also check the following website: http://www.ai-ticket.com/english/3. Budget hotel offer rate in Single Room, can it's accommodate 2 persons? or I need to book Double Room type.Usually a single room accommodates only one person. In case of most hotels, it will either be impossible to share a single room or you will have to buy an extra charge for the second person. 5. Is it recommended for my trip plan to use JR Hokkaido - Pair Kippu Pass? No, it is cheaper by single train tickets. And even cheaper by bus. But I recommend to rent a car. It is much more comfortable to get around Furano and Biei: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2024.html

There is one major airport (Sapporo's Shin Chitose Airport) and about ten mid sized airports. In addition, there are some small airports.
Which one is most convenient depends on what sights in Hokkaido you want to see. It also depends from where you are going to Hokkaido. From Tokyo?
It could be well worth to enter Hokkaido through one airport and leave it through another.
For example, enter through Memanbetsu Airport in eastern Hokkaido and leave through Hakodate Airport in western Hokkaido.
The cheapest fares are offered by Air Do, which offers flights from Tokyo to Sapporo, Hakodate, Asahikawa and Memanbetsu.

Dear Uji,
Thanks for the information. I'll be flying directly from Malaysia to Hokkaido. We are travelling on our own under Free & Easy and are looking for the most convenient to travel as we will only be staying in Hokkaido about 1 week.
Our main intention is to view the lavender and other kinds of flowers which is available in Japan.
Do you have any suggestions on where we should stay and the places that we should visit for that particular 1 week?
Thanks.

Hi Alex
We went by MAS then ANA. I think there is no direct flight from KL to New Chitose. In Sapporo, we stayed at Toyoko Inn.. very convenient, just 2 mins from train station. In Otaru, we stayed at Neuschloss Hotel, pricey but beautiful with private onsen in room. Perhaps you can give me your e-mail address and I will try to give you my two cts worth of "advice" if I can.
