medical term: isojin 2006/4/20 11:11
I am 12 weeks pregnant, went to the doctor with pain and bleeding (like a miscarriage) and she pulled out (an?) "isojin" and the baby is fine. We cannot find what that means in English! Even our Japanese friend doesn't know. Can anybody help?

Melissa,

"Isojin" is the Japanese for "Isodine". I wasn't familiar with the term, but hopefully the page below will make things clearer...

Iodine & isojin 2008/4/15 08:55
Isojin is 10 times dilution of iodine used in medical settings. The ingredients are the same, sterilizing the external tissue such as skin, mucosa, etc...

This is not recommended to prescribe to the patients with thyroid dysfunction disease. But basically, it is safe and widely spread in use at the operation room in Western Med system (which you might want to hear the most)
