Private hotspring

We just went to Miyazaki (Kyushu) in November and stayed at the Sheraton. The Shosenkyu Onsen next door has private onsen for rent. A 1-hour rental fee for hotel guest is 5000 yen. The facility of the private onsen is exceptional - a private resting quarter with shower, all the grooming supplies and towels, space heaters...The onsen is fenced in (very private) with all natual surroundings and you can control the temperature. I went there with my family and we agreed it's the best 5000 yen we spent.

If you do not speak Japanese, it may be easier to stay at a ryokan in Hakone, which has an English website, and is used/willing to accommodate visitors who do not know the local language.
Why were you not able to post your question in a separate own thread?

I found this one when doing a search for the same type of thing: http://onsenji.com/en/onsen.htmlIt looks AMAZING, with half the bath indoor, and half out. The rooms look good too. It's in Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi, so I guess not that far from "tky" (I'm not sure about your aversion to using vowels in your writing...) It's quite expensive though, at JPY 70,000 per night for 2 people. If someone can vouch for it that it is as good as it looks on their site, I would consider spending that much for one night. But to go sight unseen, that's a big risk.

Aburaya Tosen

I stayed at Aburaya Tosen that has a rotemburo (outdoor hot spring) in the balcony of my room. It is located in Yudanaka hotspring area near Nagano less than 2 hrs away from Tokyo by train. The cost is quite reasonable at 21000 yen per night complete with private kaiseiki dinner and breakfast. It was fantastic especially when you see the snow falling while soaking in the tub. Website is http://aburaya-tousen.co.jp/index.html, They have 2 front desk staff who speak good English so try e-mailing them in English if you are interested. The place is recently renovated so it is very nice.

Hi Uji, you have recommended Senjyuan which looks really good. But does every room comes with private hot spring bath? Or only the special rooms (more expensive) have private hot spring baths?
By the way, anyone knows whether Osenkaku Takaragawa onsen in Gunma has private hot spring baths?

All rooms come with private hot spring bath!

No, there are no private hot spring baths at the Osenkaku.

Nashigikan Ryokan, Gunma - I think this Ryokan has private Rotemburo. But do they accept non Japanese guests? The website is in Japanese. I was just wondering here how does everyone book/reserve their ryokans if you all do not understand Japanese?

------The website is in Japanese. I was just wondering here how does everyone book/reserve their ryokans if you all do not understand Japanese?---------
Most of ryokans in Japan do not advertise globally but only within Japan. One way is to have your hotel concierge book it for you if it's none English speaking establishment. Another way is try calling to see if they have anyone who could speak English. Thirdly, you can have your travel advisor book it for you, leave the problem to them. If nothing else works, some of us here can help you translate. If you keep looking there are some which offer intrductions in several different languages, including Chinese.

Has anyone tried Nashigikan Ryokan in Gunma? http://www.nashigikan.com/heya.htmlI saw that there are pte hot spring baths attached to the rooms. I been trying my best to decipher the Japanese words! Manz. It's tedious. Anyway Uji-san, Bettei Senjyuan looks gd but over my budget. I'm looking at below 30,000‰~ / person / night. Do you have any recommendations for ryokans with pte hot spring baths attached to rms, preferably in the Gunma prefecture?
