Hi there. I went to the Fukushima Aquarium while I was staying with my friend and I enjoyed it a lot.
The most amusing thing about going through an aquarium, is that Japanese people will point and say that EVERY fish "looks delicious!!" ... XDD Maybe it was just my friends though..

Japan is a big place, where will you be? Kaiyukan Aquarium in Osaka is awesome and its Whale Shark Yu-chan is so big!

I have been to 2 aquariums in Japan. The one on top of Sunshine City in Ikebukuro is not bad. But I really liked the Yokohama Hakkeijima Aquarium though as it has a nice dolphin tank (dolphins swiming above your head!), and a seal and (white whale?) exhibit.

In the Tokyo area I think Hakkeijima Sea Paradise Aquarium is the best. We loved the dolphin show!
Plus after you get done with the aquarium you can go on the roller coaster and other rides!

At the Hakkeijima Sea Paradise Aquarium, is the "1 Day Pass" basically an 'access all areas' pass? What I mean to say is, are all the shows, exhibitions, rides etc all available to you if you buy that pass?

Yes an all day pass gets you admission to the aquarium, dolphin fantasy and all the rides (the operational ones, when we went, Blue Fall wasn't working). It is 4900 yen per adult for the pass, here is the website in English: http://www.seaparadise.co.jp/english/index.htmlHope it helps! Oh and if you bring children, my kids really enjoyed this one area where when the tide is low, they can dig for crabs......
