Hi,
we want to go to tokyo, hakone, and kyoto for honeymoon. Arrive Dec 25 in Tokyo, and Leaving Jan 1st.
are onsens still operating in the winter time? I just learned that around new year's, most attractions are closed. what about shopping malls? what else can we do when they're closed?
what about transportations (bullet trains, subway, etc). I hope they're not closed down...

Please do not forget that most onsen are gender separated. So you cannot bath together as a couple. This is only possible in a so called family bath kazukuburo but not at each onsen.

Honeymooners,
If you would rather bathe together (wearing swimsuits), check out the Yunessun onsen resort in Hakone. It's great in midwinter.
