Mt Fuji Mushroom Tea 2007/8/11 23:09
Hi! Does anyone know where I can purchase mushroom tea (that is sold at Mt Fuji shops) within Tokyo city itself? I understand from friends who have visited Japan that it seems like mushroom tea cannot be found in supermarkets. Is this true? THANKS!!

Mushroom tea is called "しいたけ茶(shiitake-cha)" in Japanese. It is sold in big supermarkets/department stores.

Mushroom Tea .. 2007/8/13 13:25
Do you add sugar in the tea..or just drink it plain like green tea?
Thanks!

I don't think you add sugar. Though named "mashroom tea," it actually tastes a soup rather than tea.

shiitake cha 2010/10/4 06:49
when I was living in Japan, I used to buy shiitake cha in the drug store. It's generally considered a tonic for cancer (though it tastes delicious). You can often buy it at temples...in particular those dedicated to cancer patients.
