Going to the cinema in Tokyo 2007/8/16 22:12
Hello
I am visiting tokyo in september, I heard the Shimbashi Bunka cinema in minato offered a "stay as long as you like" deal, has anybody been there, is it suitable for foreign visitors?

If not any other recommends would be great. Thanks

Are there any better cinemas, I heard that some reduce there prices at the start of the month, I would like one in the shibuya/shinjuku area. I dont speak Japanese so would getting tickets be a problem?

Check this page :
http://www.metropolis.co.jp/tokyo/recent/movies.asp

1st day of every month is Eiga-no-hi (Day of Cinema) and you can see a movie in almost all theaters in Tokyo at 1000 yen/person.

A newly-opened cinema complex in Shinjuku "WALD9" offers matinee price for movies shown from 15:30-18:00 on weekdays.

As my japanese is well non-existent! I would like to maybe book my tickets online before, or should it be easy enough to buy on the day?

Roppongi 2007/8/21 00:44
I recommend TOHO Cinemas Roppongi Hills for advance online booking.

If you can't book online for whatever reason, its possible to book the day of the movie. Since you don't speak Japanese I'll assume you'll probably not going to watch any Japanese movies. Otherwise if you just say the english name the person selling the ticket would most likely know what you're talking about.
