Kyoto to Nara to Koyasan

How feasible is it to travel from Kyoto to Nara and then on to Koyasan for an overnight (it would be on a Saturday in Nov)? How much time is needed in Nara to adequately explore? Is it a problem if we don't arrive in Koyasan by dinner or is that a big no-no?

It is feasible if you get up early and limit your activity in Nara to visiting just one or maybe two sights.
How much time is needed in Nara to adequately explore?
One full day. But if you limit yourself to Todaiji Temple and Nara Park only require about 3 hours.
Is it a problem if we don't arrive in Koyasan by dinner or is that a big no-no?
You would be missing one major attraction of staying at the temple: the monk's vegetarian cuisine. If you decide to skip dinner, you should inform the temple in advance that you will not be needing dinner.
