Hakone, Fujigoko, Mt. Fuji 2007/8/20 20:18
I have read the articles about Hakone, Fujigoko & Mt. Fuji from this website.
my Q is: how close are they, one to another? (how are they related?)
if I come from Tokyo city and plan to stay 1 night there, which one is better is it on hakone or the mt.Fuji./ kawaguchi. Which one is better to visited first?(how to plan the trip?)

I'll be there on nov 2007.

is it better go on weekdays/ weekend. how is the traffic jam? THX

The following page should give you an idea:

(how are they related?)

Fujigoko is a region with five lakes directly at the northern base of Mount Fuji.

Hakone is a resort, located in the caldera of a different volcano, not far from Hakone. You can see Mount Fuji from Hakone when visibility is good.

if I come from Tokyo city and plan to stay 1 night there, which one is better is it on hakone or the mt.Fuji./ kawaguchi.

It is personal preference. I personally like Hakone better than the Fuji Five Lake region.

Either direction would be okay:
Tokyo - Fujigoko - Hakone - Tokyo
or
Tokyo - Hakone - Fujigoko - Tokyo

Weekends can be very crowded, especially in the first half of November, when there are autumn leaves.

On the other hand, note that the bus service to the 5th Station of Mount Fuji operates only on weekends during November.

One day rental car will come cheaper than a taxi ride from Kawaguchiko to the 5th Station, especially if you rent a small car through the following service:

There are rental car outlets both, in the Fuji Five Lake and Hakone area. For accessing the Kawaguchiko 5th Station, the closest outlets would be in Kawaguchiko. Mazda (bokkable through Tocoo), for example, has the following outlet:

do i need a special license?

Yes, you need an international driving permit, as explained here:
