I know it may sound odd, but I'm just curious? ^^; If there are any other penpal type sites, or chatrooms?

I think he may be looking for penpals that are hikikomori (ひきこもり or 引き篭り) it was mispelled in the post title.
Considering that hikikomori implies extreme social withdrawal I would be suprised to find resources that create a hikikomori social network.

TK,
I think just cruising chatrooms and blogs is the best way to come across hikikomori types. By definition, seriously hikikomori people are not sociable types, so they are more likely to use blogs that don't require two-way communication rather than chatrooms that require a degree of interaction with other people.

If you can read Japanese, 2channel, online role play games, and mixi are places you can find hikkikomori online.
but since hikkmori is a mental problem of social isolation, I doubt there are many looking for foreign penpals.
