Try the show at Gion Corner in the Gion geiko district. It's well worth the experience, and you can even take photos and videos of the performance!

Gion Corner 2007/9/4 00:25
Gion Corner has examples of Maiko dances, court music (gagaku), comic drama (kyogen), puppet theater (bunraku), and some flower arranging and koto music thrown in.

1.Is it possible to take a bus to Uji? cos we will be buying the one day bus pass? How do I go to Uji from Gion/shijo street? Roughly how long would it take?

2. How do I go to Gion/Shijo street from Kiyomizu temple?

Kiomizu dera to Gion 2007/9/4 16:48
surely you are planning to buy a guidebook? or get a map as soon as you arrive in Kyoto? both places aren't that far from one another. Try to check on Google earth and on Google maps.

Uji is easiest accessed by train (JR Nara Line or Keihan Railways). Even if there were a bus, the one-day pass would not be valid, because it is outside the area of validity. Rapid trains along the JR Nara Line take less than 20 minutes to get to Uji from Kyoto Station.
