There are dozens apon dozens of hotels, how about a price range? There are many hotels in Shinjuku, from low priced ones to luxury ones featured in featured films.

Among these 3, I would stay at Sun Route Plaza. This hotel is located just in front of new-south exit of JR Shinjuku station, where NEX departs and arrives. And this hotel has just been renovated.
Washington is far from Shinjuku. Kent is close to Kabukicho, which is a bit sleazy at night.

Since it is close to the New South exit, as J- Lady said, it is very close to shopping, bars and restaurants. You won't know which to chose. There isn't anywhere in Shinjuku that isn't close to those things really, but the New South exit is a particularly good area.

Across the bridge, there are Takashimaya Department Store and Tokyu Hands. Starbucks and Crispy Creams are in the front. A few minutes' walk, there are tons of bars, restaurants, shopping places.

You may want to consider Oakwood Shinjuku apartment, especially if 4 are travelling. It is a very nice apartment, and only about 10 minutes walk from the Shinjuku station.

Kabuki-cho

Ahmed, Kabuki-cho is the red light district. Strip clubs, hostess bars, porn theaters, large numbers of drunk and homeless people, all the usual things. Probably the one place in Tokyo I wouldn't walk through at night.
Actually it's not that dangerous, just not that pleasant to walk through (for me as a woman in particular). You might be fine there, and actually the Toyoko Inn chain has one of its hotels on the edge of Kabuki-cho.
It's just not one of the "nicer" areas to stay in. I would go for the South/ New South Exit area myself.

There really isn't any wrong with Kabukicho, in that it isn't dangerous or anything, the Kent itself is safe as the area is too. Yes it near a "red light" area, but generally speaking you're fine, I walked through the area myself and never had a problem.

Shinjuku is an area name. All we can tell you is that the hotel is near the South/ New South Exit of Shinjuku station. That's how people describe locations in Japan. For the actual address you can Google it, as above.

Hotel Century Southern Tower

I've stayed at that hotel once and it is a very lovely hotel. The lobby is several floors up (take an elevator) and it has stunning views of Shinjuku. You definitely will not be disappointed.
As a woman, it may be a bit scary to walk through Kabukicho by yourself. I've been to Kabukicho numerous times at night to go play billiards but I'm always with my boyfriend so I can't say I've had any bad experiences. A lone guy shouldn't have any problems.
