Hi, I know there is no real way of joining the religion like how western religions have 'iniciations' and such but how do you begin to practise it? I can't go to a shrine because i'm in south east england and there are no shrines anywhere near me.

I ask someone to correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding is that there is no ritual/requirement to become Shinto followers. Shinto is a brief that spritual beings are found in every part of our world, for example, trees, waters, earth, the sky and so on. Some Japanese houses/offices have KAMIDANA (lit. god's shelf) inside to pray for the god. So, it may be one idea to set up KAMIDANA at your home.
