After staying in the Toyoko Inn chain throughout Japan we heard the same announcement in Japanese every time we entered the elevator. I am just curious as to what is being said. Can someone tell me?

Often the elevators will anounce - The door is opening. The door is closing.
This might be what you heard. ^_^

you might have heard "ue ni mairimasu" which is "Going up" She'll also say "Shita (shta) ni mairimasu" (Going down) When you reach a floor she'll say "yonkai desu" (fourth floor) or something to that affect.

That's exactly what we were hearing. I can't say why that has been on my mind other than wanting to know what was being said. Thanks so much.
