"this isn't..." 2007/9/14 07:34
I've just recently started learning japanese, and I am having trouble translating "this isn't..." into japanese. for example, I wanted to tell a friend "this isn't anime" in japanese but I wasn't sure what I came up with was correct. I got: これはあにめでわありませんです。 Is this right?

Shokou,

I wanted to tell a friend "this isn't anime" in japanese but I wasn't sure what I came up with was correct. I got: これはあにめでわありませんです。 Is this right?

Nearly right...
1. You don't need to add "desu" after "arimasen".
2. Ideally, "anime" should be written in katakana.
3. The "wa" in "dewa" is actually the particle "は" not "わ", even though it is pronounced "wa". Don't worry, everyone makes this mistake when they first start out!
