Need student housing in tokyo 2007/9/20 04:12
Hello, I am looking for housing for 10/12 students in Tokyo next summer for about 4 weeks. Dates are May 9 to June 20, 2008. What is the best way to do this, are there any brokers or local Universities that sublet dorms over the summer? Any suggestions would be helpful. thank you.

What are they going to do in Japan? If they visit school/attend classes, your best bet is to inquire the school. Or you may have to consider renting an aparment or staying in youth hostels. By the way, May-June is not yet summer in Japan. Summer vacation generally starts in late July.

Many universities in Tokyo don't have dorms. Many students have their own place or live at home and commute to school. The universities that do have dorms, usually contract out with other relators or agencies, and space is usually limited to their students.

If this is somesort of official function in cooperation with a Japanese university then I'm sure they'll work with you in finding space.

If not it might be a little harder, though look into youth hostels, and or backpackers hotels with dorm style rooms, though it might be a little expensive on students budgets, especially if it is 40 days or so, which is a lot of time depending on what exactly you have planned.
