Do I need a lawyer for help? 2007/9/23 10:54
I was wondering if I needed a lawyer to get my working visa and Alien registration or if I can do it on my own. Which would be best?

No do not need a lawyer for either. Alien registration is best done in person. As for getting a working visa, your employer will do most of the hard work. You basically just have to collect documents and then bring the certificate of eligibility to the embassy or immigration office. It is possible to hire a lawyer to do the latter, which can be convenient if you live far from an immigration office or know that the immigration office is crowded. Hiring a lawyer for submission in Japan will cost you about 10,000 to 30,000 Yen. Not sure in case of an embassy.
