I will be staying in Nikko for 2 days (1 night), and am departing from Asakusa Tobu station.
If I decide to go to Sano Premium Outlet after check out on the 2nd day, is it still worth buying the World Heritage Pass? How can I use it for the return trip back to Asakusa?

The outlet is easiest reached from Shin-Koshigaya Station, which is located between Nikko and Asakusa, however, the World Heritage Pass does not allow you to get on and off between the Nikko area and Asakusa. So, I don't think it is a suitable ticket for your trip.

Thanks, Uji! I have decided to just go to Yokohama's Bayside Marina Outlet and skip Sano.
Btw, I will be buying the World Heritage Pass. Do you recommend a full 2 day trip or just one day is sufficient for Nikko?
