Foreigners getting divorced in japan 2007/11/7 02:50
My spouse is philippine national who is a legal resident of Japan. We were married in Japan, but I am now stationed back in the U.S.
She thinks that that to get divorced in Japan, all she has to do is submit the request with both our signatures on it, and then submit it without me traveling over there. I have read that because we are both foreigners, that I will have to show up for a joint hearing at least once. Who is right?

do backwards? 2007/11/7 10:02
hi

For you,i think you need to go to U.S.embassy for filling a divorce. and for your spouse need to go to the philippines embassy. Then after that, your spouse must notify to local city hall if he/she remains in Japan.

just backwards of what you did to get married in Japan i guess.
