JR Pass and Nagoya 2007/11/8 23:20
we are planning for a trip to Nagoya. Staying in hotel in Nagoya city.. travelling to nearby town.. Seems like JR Pass is not suitable? We used Kansai Pass on previous trip to Osaka/Nara/Kyoto/Himeji and it was great! Is there any such pass for Nagoya area?

One Day Subway Pass (740 Yen) 2007/11/9 11:41
Is there a link to information on the boundaries and subway companies that Nagoya's One Day Subway Pass (740 Yen) can be used?

Re: Nagoya 2007/11/9 12:22
Dennis,

If memory serves me correctly, the Nagoya one day subway passes are good only for the Nagoya subways, which do not go out to centrair.

You can see your airport options at:

Alternatively, check out the Central Air English site at:

many train companies 2007/11/9 20:52
You have to be careful, around Nagoya many lines are not JR but Meitetsu, to Toyota for example, so Japan railpass is no use

1-day pass 740yen 2007/11/30 15:56
is the 1-day pass 740yen usable on meitetsu line?
by dsim rate this post as useful

depends.. 2007/11/30 20:37
depends if it is Meitetse subway, if you wanna catch the centair it can get pretty pricey, maybe 800yen each way from nagoya shi.
Dont really worry about JR pass for Nagoya, JR line isnt as good as Meitetu and kintetse, but these are both better then subway. for the subway lines are a little confusing,

They do have one that goes by 'ku', maybe that would work.

subway fares can be checked here:

Also, from cetral air, I think you have to transfer in Kanayama. Looks like the airport bus is the easiest to get out of Central into Nagoya city especially with luggages.

train nagoya stn to/from centrair 2007/12/2 11:45
i guess i would choose train for travelling to/from nagoya stn - centrair. anyone knows whether the meitetsu train has space to put luggage? (like the haruka trains that serves kansai).

Meitetsu line 2007/12/2 12:55
I am not sure but I've heard that meitetsu trains which is probably the fastest way to get to Nagoya from central have luggage compartment above the seats and also under the seats like a plane.
Which makes sense to me if it's that way.

We will travel thru Central this coming year so I'll know more later.

seems like i have to buy 1-day pass (740yen) for nagoya travel if i exceed 740yen/day. as for trvels outside of nagoya, will have to buy regular tickets.
