Arashiyama Light up / Koyo in December? 2007/11/10 01:07
Dear All

I plan to visit Arashiyama in Dec 9 or 10,

actually, my plan is to visit Kyoto Winter Festival
which starts at 5 PM

but my friend suggests to ride Sagano Tram

We are using Kansai Surutto

1. is there any prediction about Last Koyo in Arashiyama?
If Koyo is finished, i'll just visit the festival

2. If Koyo is still there, i will start from
- Kyoto Sta to Arashiyama
- Ride Sagano Tram
- Visit Festival in the evening

BUT from what sta to what should I start?
do i have to take Tram go and back?
or better take bus to the boarding sta and ride Tram to destination station?

looking forward for your kindly help

It's difficult to forecast the nature but autumnal foliage has just started/not yet started in Kyoto. I think you have a good chance to see it in early December.

What are you referring to when you say the Kyoto Winter Festival? Do you mean the Kyoto Winter Special? Have you seen this page yet:

I think you're thinking of the Arashiyama Hanatouro.

I assume you refer to the "Sagano Romantic Train" when you write "tram". You can take the romantic train in both directions, or take the regular train for either direction. Or take the boat back to Arashiyama. More details are here:
