Can someone please tell me the best convenient way - no domestic flight - to Osaka,Uehnommachi from Tokyo Shinjuku. I heard that it is very troublesome to travel by train with two kids andtwo large luggages.

Please help.

There might be a mistake in your destination. Do you mean Umeda in Osaka?
Then it is: From Tokyo - Shinjuku to Tokyo Station by JR train, transfer to JR shinkansen Tokyo Station to ShinOsaka transfer from ShinOsaka to Osaka by JR train then walk. For convenience of train ride you are better based at Tokyo Shinagawa and ShinOsaka area or Osaka area, especially regarding the day excursions you mentioned in an earlier question. Tokyo Shinagawa is on the JR shinkansen line within Tokyo city. Hotels in Shinagawa may come cheaper than those in Marounuchi area next to Tokyo station.

Uehommachi? 2007/11/13 06:40
Joe Koh,

Where specifically? Are you just trying to get to Uehommachi Station? (Sometimes called Ueroku Station.) This is located on the Kintetsu Osaka (Nara) line. The area is near Tennoji-ku, Osaka.

If Uehommachi Station is where you are going, you will need to take the train from Tokyo to Osaka. This will leave you at the Shin-Osaka. You can switch to the JR Kyoto Line into Osaka. (The Umeda Station.) There you can take the JR Osaka Loop to Tsuruhashi. You can also catch the Midosuji Line at Shin-Osaka, heading to Osaka and get off at the Namba stop.

Where you go from there is up to where ever it is you are going.

Traveling with kids is never easy, so if you are staying at a Hotel, contact them and arrange a pickup. Or get clear directions and an address and take a Cab. You may also find that a bus is available depending what your final destination is. Also friends in the area may be wise to come and get you.

Good Luck
Tenshi
