Keisei Line on Saturday morning 2007/11/13 18:48
Our flight from Narita to Singapore is at 9.45am on Saturday (24th Nov). Therefore we need to be at airport by 7.45am.

We are staying at Ikebukuro and will be taking the Keisei Express Limited at Ueno to Narita.

Do we need to make advance booking? As i note the first train frm Ueno is 6.30am. Or can we jus reserved our seat on that morning itself.

Thank you in advance.

Keisei Limited Express 2007/11/13 22:59
Jana,

The Keisei Limited Express is just a regular commuter train with bench seats, so you cannot reserve seats.
Trains going out of Tokyo in the morning probably won't be particularly crowded.

Keisei from Nippori 2007/11/13 23:02
Jana,

I forgot to say that if you are staying at Ikebukuro, the JR Narita Express would be the easiest (but not cheapest) way, but if you go via the Keisei Line, you should change at Nippori (JR Yamanote Line) rather than Ueno.

Ikebukuro to Narita 2007/11/14 06:06
Dave,
When I checked hyperdia, I found that reservations are available on Keisei Skyliner. I have never used it, so I don't know if that is the case.

Here is what I found:

06:05 IKEBUKURO
% 11min JR Yamanote Line(Outer loop) ¥160
19min 06:16
06:35 NIPPORI
% 54min Keisei Sky Liner ¥1000 Reserved seat
¥920
07:29 NARITA AIRPORT

Keisei Limited Express vs Skyliner 2007/11/14 07:43
TravelToJapan,

The original poster was asking about the Keisei Limited Express Train, for which you cannot reserve seats, but the Skyliner you mention is a proper airport express train for which you have to reserve seats. Confusing isn't it!?

Narita transport options 2007/11/14 12:51
Jana,

The various options for travelling to/from Narita are listed on the page below.
http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2027.html

If you are travelling from Ikebukuro, the JR Narita Express or Airport Limousine Bus would be the most convenient, as they are direct.
If you prefer to change at Nippori and use the Keisei limited express, the timetable is given on the Keisei page...
http://www.keisei.co.jp/keisei/tetudou/keisei_us/html/ot_nar...

Same goes for the Keisei Skyliner...

Nippori to Keisei Skyliner 2007/11/14 19:36
Is the distance from Nippori station to Keisei Skyliner far from each other? If on foot, how long it takes to reach?

I note that Skyliner is 1920yen whereas Narita Express (NEX) is 3,110yen.

Sorry for asking too much qns and thx once again.

Keisei vs NEX 2007/11/14 19:54
Jana,

There is a map of the station on the Keisei website...
http://www.keisei.co.jp/keisei/tetudou/keisei_us/html/e_nipp...

You just need to go up the stairs, through the transfer gates and down the stairs/escalator to the Keisei platform.

I note that Skyliner is 1920yen whereas Narita Express (NEX) is 3,110yen.

Yes, plus the 160 yen to take the Yamanote Line from Ikebukuro to Nippori. The NEX is more expensive, but it saves you the hassle of riding the Yamanote Line with luggage and then having to change trains at Nippori. You just need to decide for yourself whether comfort or cost is more important to you.

NEX 2007/11/14 20:12
Thxx a lot Dave. I think i will consider to take the NEX since the different is only 1,030yen.

So do i hv to buy the ticket in advance. Or i just purchase the ticket on the day itself?

NEX 2007/11/14 20:48
Jana,

You can reserve seats right up until the time of departure (if seats are still available), but I would recommend reserving as soon as you can, as the trains going to Narita can often be fully booked.
