Book Koyasan before or not 2007/11/14 08:20
Hello,

I plan to sleep at Koyasan the Monday 26th of November and would like to know if I must book my night right now or if I can wait to be in the Koyasan tourism association to have maybe more choice. It is not easy at all for a non-japanese speaking to find info about each shokubo on the web so I don't want to choose one just because the website is in english :(

Thanks for your help !

Hey, I am checking this website after 5 years absence! Then I decided to answer as many questions as I can tonight and I found your question.
Did you check this website?
http://www.shukubo.jp/eng/05_syukubo.html
http://mediabox.jp/kouya/
The bottom one has "reservation" buttons. I am sorry but it is in Japanese.
Yeah, I know you already checked it...
Talking about reservation, I think it is better to make a reservation before you get there since they prepare meals. There are several different types of Shukubo. Some of them are more strictly controlled but you can experience core Buddhism customs. And the others are more like hotels. The hotel type ones can be reserved as same was as usual hotels. The website above has a list of those places.

Again, they are in Japanese...
But I found one English website.

I hope those information will help you.

Thanks

It seems most of them requires telephone or Fax reservation. You can ask travel agencies to do it. Travel agencies in Japan are good.

Thanks you so much for the time you spend to help me.

I will see that in details during the day (yes, it's 9AM for me now :p) and maybe you have a good address to give me in Koya san.

Thanks again
