Shimonoseki fishmarket 2007/11/16 18:46
Hi all,
I read that it is not possible anymore to visit the Tokyo fishmarket at a time of the day when it is really interesting. So I wonder whether it is better to visit the market in Shimonoseki.
Has anyone of you been at the fishmarket in Shimonoseki? Is it worthwhile?

Do you have a recommendation for hotel or ryokan in Shimonoseki?

Thanks,

You can still visit Tsukiji (Tokyo's fish market) and it is also bustling when it is open. I love visiting Tsukiji and highly recommend it especially for foodies. The only thing you can't visit now is the Tuna Auctions.

I've never been to Shimonoseki or the Karato Fish Market and can't really recommend anything. It's supposed to be the Fugu capital of Japan.

I'd say if you are interested in seeing a fish market then you should definitely check out Tsukiji.
